Solana rollups and network extensions: SVM beyond the L1

Key claims
Solana L1 has almost $10B TVL
Solana is the second largest DeFi, meme and DePIN ecosystem after Ethereum
𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠.
This includes "𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀" like:
☞ @mantis (SVM NE with IBC-powered intents and native yield)
☞ @SonicSVM (SVM NE on Solana)
☞ @spicenetio (Solana NE with Celestia underneath)
☞ +++
But Solana's high-performance VM is also making its way into execution environments beyond the @solana ecosystem.
☞ @EclipseFND (SVM L2 on Ethereum with Celestia underneath)
☞ @fluentxyz (Blended execution L2 on Ethereum with SVM support)
☞ @moleculebtc (SVM L2 on Bitcoin)
☞ @yona_network (SVM L2 on Bitcoin)
☞ +++
The $SOL ecosystem is also developing increasingly mature infrastructure and tooling for modular blockchain designs:
☞ @Terminaxyz (SVM-as-a-Service)
☞ @soon_svm (optimistic rollup framework)
☞ @RomeProtocol (shared sequencer)
☞ @Neon_EVM (parallel EVM on Solana)
☞ +++
While we might continue to see some controversy around the terminology used in different ecosystems, I'm very excited to see "modular" Ethereum and "monolithic" Solana ecosystems converge.
The modular thesis is all about customizability and being able to "pick and choose" the best network components, combining them into highly scalable, use case optimized, modular execution layer configurations.
Solana and its ecosystem have built some great tech and continue to innovate (zk compression, firedancer, etc.).
Making $SOL technology available to builders in the modular stack and expanding the reach of SVM beyond the @solana L1, will be beneficial to both Solana and the broader Web3 ecosystem in the long run.
The future is multichain, and among Ethereum, Cosmos (SDK & IBC), and to some degree maybe certain emerging ecosystems and their tech (e.g. Move & co.), I strongly believe @solana and its innovations will be a cornerstone of that future.
And don't forget about the fact that @solana's L1 in itself already is the second largest DeFi, meme and DePIN ecosystem after Ethereum.
Almsot $10 billion in TVL, 100s of apps across a broad range of use cases and a vibrant community, that will accelerate a wild 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 $SOL 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 once the market comes back to live.
