Theoriq THQ tokenomics and Kaito launchpad sale terms assessed
Quote560 words
Sale terms are better than Espresso's but still back-loaded: $2M at $75M FDV with 25% unlock at TGE, investors need 4x to break even. Tokenomics have capped supply and fee-driven value accrual, with ~14.7% of supply potentially airdropped.
Key claims
$2M raise at $75M FDV: 25% at TGE, 37.5% at 12M, 37.5% linear to month 24
Investors need 4x ($300M FDV) to recoup
Supply 1B: Community 18%, Treasury 28%, Contributors 24%, Investors 30%
The details around @TheoriqAI's $THQ tokenomics and their token sale on the @KaitoAI launchpad are out.
TL;DR: Sale terms better than Espresso, but also not great. Tokenomics quite decent overall tho.
Let me explain:
Theoriq is aiming to raise $2M at $75M FDV with 25% unlock at TGE, 37.5% after 12M, and 37.5% vested linearly from month 13-24.
This means that investors require a 4x ($300M FDV) upon TGE to recoup initials successfully.
While it's not completely outlandish for $THQ to go there, it's still quite a bet, and the subsequent vesting on the rest is definitely is on the high end.
Especially given that it's a "community sale" and only 2.67% of total supply are being sold here, I don't think a larger or even full TGE unlock would be that risky, also given the positive effects (e.g. re sentiment & attention) that come with meaningfully allowing the community to participate in the protocol's upside (a.k.a. making your community rich).
Sure, there will likely also be an airdrop, but still, I believe that also from @KaitoAI's perspective, the attractiveness of the launch terms needs to improve (crucial for the launchpad's success).
The market has become tougher for new launches than it was a few years ago, and value capture (outside of often too smol airdrops) can't remain centralized around early investors with large allos and low FDV entries that offload OTC, through staking rewards on locked tokens, or ultimately just by dumping on the open market, all at multiples of their initial entry.
Projects that want their tokens and ultimately protocols to succeed, need to put the community first, and give them real skin in the game, with terms that truly reward active participation
Having said all that, let's quickly have a look at Theoriq's tokenomics:
- $THQ is the core economic and security token for Theoriq's "Agentic Economy," an ecosystem where AI agents autonomously execute DeFi strategies onchain.
- Protocol usage generates fees from agent activities, which are captured and distributed as real yield to token holders, creating the core value accrual flywheel.
- Users can stake $THQ for a liquid derivative $sTHQ to earn baseline emissions and partner rewards, or time-lock it for a non-transferable token (αTHQ) to receive boosted, fee-driven rewards.
- The protocol features a restaking-like model where locked tokens $αTHQ are delegated to AI agents as slash-eligible collateral to secure their performance in exchange for fee discounts and shared rewards.
- Security is enforced by slashing, where the delegated stake of malicious agents is burned, creating a direct economic penalty and a deflationary mechanism.
- The token has a fixed supply of 1 billion, allocated to the Community (18%), Treasury (28%), Core Contributors (24%), and Investors (30%).
Overall, tokenomics look quite okay imo (capped supply, value accrual mechanism exists), and 18% in community allocation means that there will also be 14.73% (18% total community allocation - 0.6% Kaito rewards - 2.67% Public sale) that could be airdropped (directly up on TGE, or more realistically, over various seasons). If public sale tokens are actually part of the 30% investors allocation, that would mean even more potential airdrop rewards.
As the AI narrative accelerates again, yapping here could end up paying well, and if the tech finds adoption, $THQ could be an interesting play on the agent vertical. The Kaito sale doesn't entirely convince me tho.
