5 clusters across 25 wallets
~$7.2M already sold since TGE
After @mlmabc surfaced undeniable on-chain evidence, Lighter disclosed that a third-party entity received ~10M LIT (~$26M) for depositing $5M into LLP during private beta.
That's roughly 1% of total supply.
The entity used 5 clusters across 25 wallets. ~$7.2M has already been sold since TGE.
A few thoughts here:
This only came to light because someone did the on-chain work. Not because the team proactively disclosed it. That's a problem.
Calling this a "liquidity provider allocation" doesn't change what it is: a preferential deal that diverted a meaningful chunk of what users assumed was community allocation.
These backdoor arrangements, whether you call them LP incentives, strategic partnerships, or ecosystem grants, erode trust when they're hidden until forced into the open.
To be clear: I have no ill will toward Lighter. I faded it completely but would genuinely like to see it succeed. The perp DEX space needs healthy competition.
But transparency matters. Not just for Lighter, for the industry. Every time a project gets caught quietly routing tokens to insiders, it does damage and makes the whole space look worse.
The deal itself isn't necessarily the issue. Early liquidity matters. Risk should be rewarded. But disclose it upfront. Let people decide if that's a tradeoff they're comfortable with.
Looks like there is more.
QUOTING @mlmabc
This entity deposited ~$5M USDC into LLP around 9 months ago, split across 5 wallets, and received 9,999,999.60 LIT from the airdrop (~$26M) - a perfectly round number. This excludes LLP yield, which adds another $1–2M in returns. This represents 1% of total supply and ~4% of ci
