Bulk pre-deposits and AURA: validator-embedded perp DEX on Solana

Bulk validators run a bulk-agave fork beside Solana's client, forming leaderless consensus with 20-40ms finality and ~5% of stake. Portfolio margin against a correlation matrix can cut hedged margin up to 70%. Last week of AURA pre-deposits, zero maker fees for 30 days.

Key claims
Validator cohort ~5% of Solana stake across 20+ operators
Validators earn 12.5% of exchange fees
1M AURA distributed weekly until mainnet
The last week of AURA farming through pre-deposits on @bulktrade. And while I'm rather late among the early, I will finally give this a try now (just deposited some USDC). With mainnet likely to kick off in a week, my balance should soon convert into trading margin, and it's all gonna be about trading for points. TL;DR on what makes Bulk unique: While a lot of perp DEX teams opt for their own chains, Bulk is taking an approach of embedding itself deeply into @solana as a base layer. Or more specifically, Solana validators run a second binary (bulk-agave, a jito-agave fork) next to their normal client (same machine, same identity keys, and stake weight inherited from Solana). Those validators form a dedicated consensus network that does nothing but run the exchange, while Solana itself keeps custody and processes deposits and withdrawals. That means there is no need for a bridge, no wrapped assets, and the validator cohort securing Bulk already represents ~5% of total Solana stake across 20+ independent operators. Validators running the Bulk client earn 12.5% of exchange fees on top of their usual rewards, which also makes $SOL staked with them (directly or via $BulkSOL, Bulk's own LST) more productive. You might wonder "why bother, instead of just running a sequencer?" Let me explain: The consensus is leaderless, so there is no block proposer, and no single party that can reorder or censor the tx flow, while batches still commit in one vote-commit round (5-20ms matching within regional validator sets, 20-40ms finality). Ordering inside a batch is a deterministic shuffle seeded by consensus output. Makes high performance possible in a well decentralized manner from day one. The most underrated part imo is the risk engine tho. The team are former Solana market makers (the $8M seed was led by 6th Man Ventures and Robot Ventures, with Wintermute and Big Brain participating, and Toly as angel btw), so margin mechanics are their home turf. Instead of margining every position in isolation like most perp DEXs do, Bulk margins your account as one portfolio against a live correlation matrix, the same approach CME introduced with SPAN in 1988. A hedged book like long BTC / short ETH can require up to 70% less margin this way, requirements adapt to volatility regimes in real time, and if things do go wrong, liquidations run through an optimizer that reduces positions selectively and skips anything acting as a hedge, instead of just closing the biggest position first. And Bulk is not only an exchange, it's also infra to build on: builder codes let anyone launch their own frontend, terminal or trading bot on top of the order book and earn a user-approved fee on the flow they route (already live on staging, day one on mainnet). BIP-1 will then allow teams to deploy their own perp markets. But I will save the technicalities for another day. What is important if you're here for the AURA, is: Bulk is still on testnet, but mainnet pre-deposits are live, which as per comms on X are only open for one more week. That implies that mainnet is close. As for every other perp DEX out there, the points (AURA) program is likely to continue tho, and you'll have to trade actively to keep earning. The AURA system works as follows: - 1M AURA distributed weekly until mainnet (close now), and your share scales with pre-deposit size x time held - USDC deposits are possible from $10, withdrawable anytime, and converting straight into trading margin at mainnet launch - Deposits need a minimum time held before they start accruing, so a fresh deposit shows up in the next weekly distribution, not instantly - Referrers earn 1 AURA per $100 their referrals keep deposited through weekly snapshots - There was also a one-off retroactive AURA drop for early supporters (testnet competition traders, BulkSOL stakers, and users of some integrated Solana protocols). That one is distributed already, but BulkSOL stakers keep earning a share of the weekly AURA on top of staking yield Bulk also announced zero maker fees for the first 30 days after launch, to further incentivize /push number of traders and volume. If you want in for this last week, go here ↓ t.co/BlZgwjvYj3 NFA obvs, but looks interesting imo.
