@fuel_network is an operating system, a.k.a. software that is used to launch and run rollups (think OP stack) purpose-built for Ethereum rollups and designed to help developers build decentralized economies at scale.
Fuel's unique architecture architecture combines Bitcoin’s UTXO model, Solana’s parallel execution, Ethereum’s security, Move’s Asset-Oriented language design, and Cosmos’s interoperability with VM customization.
Fuel is a fully modular framework and rollups can be customized at every layer of the tech stack. For DA, Fuel rollups can leverage Ethereum (EIP-4844 blobs) or any other (modular) DA layer, incl. @CelestiaOrg, @eigen_da or @AvailProject.
The Fuel Virtual Machine (FuelVM) sits at the heart of Fuel. It is a parallelized VM designed for maximum performance and with a minimized state design to ensure sustainable state growth. The VM is customizable to support app-chain use cases within the framework.
The FuelVM is built in Sway, a flexible programming language specifically designed for blockchain development. It comes with all the benefits of Rust's memory management and type safety with a DSL focused specifically on writing smart contracts.
