Explains what Espresso offers L2s: HotShot fast confirmations, decentralized sequencing and cheap DA. Argues a planned Polygon CDK integration would let AggChains plug into shared sequencing and improve cross-chain composability.
Key claims
100 nodes run the Espresso Network at Mainnet 0
HotShot confirms transactions within seconds
Polygon CDK integration in development
Fast execution confirmations and shared sequencing are about to hit the @AggLayer ecosystem!
Fully composable high-performance rollups with shared liquidity, state and users are not a distant future anymore.
Espresso is a game-changer & here's why. ↓
@EspressoSys is a fast confirmation & shared sequencing layer that lets any integrated chain quickly and reliably confirm the state of any other chain connected to the Espresso Network.
The Espresso Network is currently in its Mainnet 0 release, already significantly expanding the modular stack.
More specifically, Espresso can serve L2s with:
➤ Fast Confirmations: Espresso's HotShot consensus confirms txs within seconds, enabling bridges to move assets across integrated chains at high speeds & with minimal risk. Espresso confirmations are more secure than centralized preconfs, faster than L1 finality, and will be critical in enabling synchronous composability. Chains can also maintain a centralized sequencer while opting into Espresso for stronger transaction guarantees.
➤ Decentralized Sequencing: Currently, 100 nodes operate the Espresso Network in a decentralized manner, allowing rollups to opt for sequencing by this network rather than relying on their own centralized sequencer. The network aims to rapidly scale node participation and introduce permissionless, PoS participation post-Mainnet 0.
➤ Affordable Data Availability: Espresso provides applications with a cost-effective alternative to Ethereum for data availability. Integrating chains can leverage Espresso’s robust data availability guarantees to improve scalability.
What does this mean for the AggLayer ecosystem?
Espresso is currently developing an integration with the @0xPolygon CDK that will allow chains built on the Polygon stack to easily integrate with Espresso.
This will enable any AggChain to seamlessly plug into decentralized sequencing and low-cost DA, along with Espresso's fast confirmations for improved composability among all chains in the ecosystem.
