Why TAO has value: demand sources, dTAO and alpha tokens
Post200 words
Explains TAO demand from validators, miner registration fees and governance against a capped supply with decreasing issuance. dTAO alpha tokens can only be bought with TAO, so subnet adoption adds TAO demand.
Key claims
Alpha tokens are acquired only by staking TAO into subnet pools
Capped supply with decreasing issuance requires demand growth to hold price
Why does $TAO have value?
Each TAO token directly represents intelligence contributed to the Bittensor network by miners and verified by validators. As the network grows, miners' contributions will increasingly form diverse decentralized commodity markets under one unified token system.
Holding TAO grants individuals and institutions access to a connected ecosystem of digital resources, facilitating the collective production of intelligence.
What determines the price of $TAO?
TAO's price is determined by supply & demand dynamics. Demand arises from various network activities: validators must acquire TAO to participate, miners pay registration fees in TAO, and stakeholders use TAO in governance.
With a capped supply and a predictable, decreasing issuance rate, maintaining price stability requires demand to keep pace with this controlled inflation.
Also important in this context: The dTAO upgrade introduced alpha tokens (subnet-specific currencies obtained by staking TAO into subnet liquidity pools). These alpha tokens are essential within the staking system and earn emissions within their respective subnets.
Since alpha tokens can only be acquired with TAO, their adoption and utility directly drive additional demand for TAO. As Bittensor's ecosystem expands and more subnets gain traction, this mechanism will amplify demand for TAO, creating a powerful dynamic.
