Explains ETPs versus ETFs through Bitwise's physically backed Aptos staking ETP (APTB), listing on SIX on 19 Nov with about 4.7% net staking yield. Sees it as a step toward institutional APT demand, though ETFs carry stricter regulation.

Key claims
APTB lists on SIX Swiss Exchange on 19 Nov 2024
Staking return about 4.7% net of fees
BTC up >90% since the January ETF approval
Institutions are embracing Aptos! @bitwise just announced the first @Aptos staking ETP. WTF is this and why does it matter? Find out. ↓ An Exchange-Traded Product (ETP) is a financial instrument traded on stock exchanges that tracks the performance of underlying assets, such as stocks, commodities, indices, or in this case the APT token. This allows investors to buy and sell exposure to the underlying asset throughout the trading day and offers both institutions and individuals secure & transparent access to APT without the complexities of managing a non-custodial wallet and staking manually. The ETP will have the ticker APTB, is physically backed and will stake the underlying APT to generate returns of approximately 4.7% net of fees, which will be accumulated directly within the ETP. It is set to be listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange on November 19th. We're entering a generational bullrun that will largely be fueled by insitutional demand. What institutional capital can do to crypto prices is probably best evidenced with BTC, which since the approval of the BTC ETF in January, is up >90%. ➤ Wait, is this an ETF? No anon, but it's a step in the right direction. Let me explain. ↓ ETP is a broad term for securities that trade on exchanges and track the performance of underlying assets, which encompasses several types of products. An Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) is a specific type of ETP that holds a portfolio of assets, usually designed to track an index, sector, or commodity, while other examples of an ETP include Exchange-Traded Notes (ETN) and Exchange-Traded Commodities (ETC). Each type of ETP comes with different structures and risk levels. ➤ So what's the difference between an ETF and other ETPs? ETFs are generally regulated under more stringent guidelines, which tends to offer investors greater transparency, regulatory protections, and, in many cases, tax efficiencies. While a staked APT ETP on a Swiss stock exchange does not (yet) have the same significance as an APT ETF approval in the U.S. in terms of driving institutional demand and improving accessibility of the underlying asset, this is a clear indicator of where @Aptos is heading.
