Papertrade explained: 1000x synthetic perps on HyperEVM's BBO precompile

Post570 words

Papertrade prices synthetic swaps against its LP at Hyperliquid's on-chain BBO mid, with no orderbook, oracle, funding or slippage. The LP starts at $0 and bootstraps from trader losses, and the PAPER token has zero premine and mints only as traders realize losses.

Key claims
Leverage up to 1000x with no funding, trading fees or gas
100 PAPER minted per $1 of LP gain while the LP is below $2M
Only fee is an asymmetric haircut on winning closes
Is HyperEVM dead? No. @papertrade_xyz will prove it (soon). But WTF is this onchain perp DEX promising us 1000x leverage, 0 slippage, no funding & self-bootstrapping LPs on HL? I scanned the docs, so you don’t have to, and here is why it’s worth paying (serious) attention to: The core idea is stupidly elegant. @papertrade_xyz doesn’t run an orderbook, a matching engine or an off-chain oracle. Every trade is a synthetic swap against the protocol’s LP, priced at @HyperliquidX’s live best bid/offer mid, read directly on-chain via HyperEVM’s BBO precompile. No oracle committee, no price signer, no admin that can point the feed elsewhere. The price the contract sees is literally what HL’s market makers are quoting in that block. And this is the part all the “HyperEVM is dead” ppl never wanted to hear or never understood. HyperEVM wasn’t meant to win on raw speed. Its actual moat is that smart contracts can read (and write to) HyperCore state natively. Think live orderbook prices, spot balances, bridging via CoreWriter, etc. @papertrade_xyz is the first perp DEX built entirely on top of that primitive. And no, you physically cannot deploy this on any other fancy chain, bc no other chain exposes a consensus-verified CLOB as an onchain price feed. What that unlocks? A lot. Since there’s no orderbook and no counterparty besides the LP, there’s no slippage (you get BBO mid regardless of size), no funding (no perp actually trades on HL), no trading fees, no spread, and no gas (relayer covers it), while leverage goes up to 1000x. The only thing the protocol ever takes is an asymmetric haircut on winning closes that scales with move size on a Rollbit-style impact curve, while losses pay nothing extra. That same curve, plus a jitter deadband and trailing OI caps, is also what makes single-block BBO manipulation unprofitable without needing a circuit breaker (very gigabrain imho). The LP model to me is the wildest part tho. It starts at exactly $0, so no seed capital, no LP raise, no deposits allowed (ever). It bootstraps purely from trader losses (aka the Martingaler mechanism). If a winner closes while the LP is short, the profit portion goes into an on-chain FIFO queue and pays out as future losses refill it. Your margin is never queued, only the win. That makes temporary insolvency a feature, not a bug, and trading through it is exactly when you’re rewarded the most. Rewarded via $PAPER, maybe the fairest token launch you’ll see this cycle. Zero premine, zero team allocation, zero VC, zero airdrop, zero vesting (great Hyperliquid ethos alignment imo). Supply starts at 0 and the ONLY way tokens come into existence is traders realizing losses: 100 $PAPER per $1 of LP gain while the LP sits below $2M, decaying after. $PAPER is the LP fee-claim token, and staking it earns real USDC from LP revenue, instantly stakeable and unstakeable with no lockups. Builder codes (1% rev share for any frontend originating flow, HL-style) are coming too, so third-party UIs can plug in permissionlessly (bullish). Zooming out, it’s also worth noting that gambling is (still) crypto’s only truly sticky use case vertical. Perps, memes, prediction markets, etc. Hyperliquid, pumpfun, fomo, the entire top of the revenue leaderboard is speculation infrastructure. @papertrade_xyz is a pure distillation of that, natively built on the one chain feature that actually differentiates HyperEVM. Built by @izebel_eth & @blurr. Expecting launch soon. Hyperliquid.
