Hyperliquid vs Aster vs Lighter: open interest to volume ratios

Quote195 words

Open interest reflects conviction while volume can be mercenary. HL has a 0.64:1 volume-to-OI ratio, Aster 40:1, suggesting wash trading, and Lighter shows a similar but milder pattern likely driven by airdrop expectations.

Key claims
Hyperliquid volume-to-OI ratio 0.64:1
Aster volume-to-OI ratio 40:1
HL OI near $13B, over 8x Aster
The chart by @HYPERDailyTK below says a lot. Why? Open Interest measures the total value of active positions held on a DEX, representing longer-term convicted traders, while volume only shows 24-hour trading activity. The latter is often driven by short-term mercenary capital, while OI can't be bought. It must be earned through proper trust in the platform, which explains why @HyperliquidX's higher OI than volume (0.64:1 volume-to-OI ratio) signals genuine trader confidence and sticky liquidity. @Aster_DEX's extreme 40:1 volume-to-OI ratio on the other hand (which got worse in the meantime btw) suggests mercenary capital dominating with rapid in-and-out trades (clearly volume farming and wash trading, maybe even along some fake stats). Last but not least: @Lighter_xyz's similar pattern but lower scale indicates broad interest (likely also driven by the anticipation of airdrop incentives), but also shows it hasn't yet earned HL-level trust from traders to hold long-term positions. Looks much more natural than Aster tho, and at least partially resembles early HL metrics. Disclosure: I'm a HYPE maxi (wrt usage and holdings), I like Lighter quite a bit even tho I faded the farming, and I massively dislike the CEX scam known as Aster. Hyperliquid.
